Kat Von D Beethoven Palette Initial Impression

I finally received my Kat Von D eye shadow palette in Beethoven. The palette is real cute and has almost like a velvet feel to it. It comes with 8 eye shadows of which most are pretty vibrant in color. The descriptions for the eye shadows are listed below and are actually pretty accurate. I hate when eye shadows are nothing like the descriptions.

Description:
Lucifer - matte charcoal black
Speed Blue - dark metalic blue
Razor Gray - warm gun steel shimmer
Tequila - metallic cornsilk shimmer
Sinner - metallic purple black shimmer
Rad Purple - matte purple black with purple glitter
Leather - matte dark brown
Galeano - metallic medium plum shimmer

Here is a pic of the underside of the palette, which labels the eye shadows

The palette comes with a nice long mirror (mirror is length of the palette) and two doubled-ended applicator brushes. The brushes are the worst part of the palette…they feel hard. Good thing I use my own brushes, those applicator brushes are going in the trash. I was TRYING to swatch the eye shadows for you guys and finally gave up. My freaking camera is pissing me off! I am talking snap…blur, snap…blur. Every pic I was taking was blurry and did not show the color. I even had my little helper lend me her arm for swatches and no luck. So, I gave up on the swatching.

Eyeshadow
The eye shadows feel real soft and smooth making them easy to blend. However, I did find them to be a bit on the dusty side - when getting color from the palette. Meaning you will have a bit of a mess in your palette. Also meaning the eye shadows in this palette would probably shatter real easy. During my failed swatching attempt, I was using a flat brush to pack the color onto my hand and found it not to pick up as much color as with a fluffy brush. Maybe it’s just me, but I have to use a fluffy brush with this eye shadows. Also the glitter in Rad Purple separates from the eye shadow when trying to apply it. Think oil and water.

NOTE: Haven’t tried the eye shadows on my eyes yet

Conclusion:
Overall, I am happy with the vibrancy of the eye shadows, the mirror is pretty cool and the packaging is way cute. The dusty eye shadow part really bombed for me. :( I guess I expected more thanks to YouTube hype. It is a descent palette and I give it a 3.7 out a 5. And like I always say, “In the end it is all about personal preference and just how picky one is.”

This review is based on my experience and opinion for this product. Your opinions may be the same or different. In the end it is all about personal preference.

I totally wanted one cause of the purple shadow. But I didn’t like the rest of the colors though. This was on the other palette. :) Maybe Ill look again :)

    Hey there,
The palette is cute and feels nice, but the eye shadows are definitely duplicable.
