My visit to MAC this weekend was a short one. I was really excited to checkout the recently launched collections , MAC Suite Array, MAC Ungaro and MAC Cremesheen. The MAC Ungaro collection was one I was dying to see and try, however, after playing with the makeup from this collection I was a bit disappointed. Mainly because the makeup was too light on my skin. I don’t know if this collection is made with very light skin in mind or if it is so natural you are not suppose to really see it. Kind of like that saying “wearing makeup and not looking like it.” Lighter skin tones or even Darker skin tones might actually see good color payoff. I guess I’m stuck in the middle. The only 3 items I bought from MAC Ungaro were:
1)The Lipstain (Not So Shy) -gives your lips a dark pink color, but nothing too over the top. You can really make the lips pop by applying a lipglass on top of it - like pastel emotion lipglass. I wore this out to lunch and it stayed on nicely.
2)Fresh Morning cream colour base - this cream is really pale, but I found it to be perfect as cheek highlighter. I applied it on top of my blush and set the cream with some face highlighter/powder.
3)Crushed Bougainvillea - this cream base just looked gorgeous, yet I am still trying to decide what to do with it. I did not like the color when applied to my lips and cheeks much. Just seemed to age me… Hmmm?
So those were the three items I bought from Ungaro and really only care for the first two. The lipsticks and beauty powder from this collection did not show up on me and the eye shadows did not make an impact on me. I liked phloof e/s the most, but it is a permanent eyeshadow that I already own. The lipsticks would look nice on light skin, giving it that approachable lip color. The pastel emotion lipglass is nice, but I have similar glosses. I just wore it out to lunch after leaving MAC.

The MAC Suite Array Collection really got my attention with the eyeliners. The eyeliners really make your eyes pop, especially when you line the eyes a little thick. I applied Sweet Liason eye shadows and lined the eyes with Fly-by-Blue and it just gave the eye shadows that pop needed. Try using the eyeliners under eyeshadow as a secondary base and it really makes a difference. The items I bought from this collection were:
1)Sweet Liason compact - I really like how handy it is to have 2 eye shadows in one small compact. It’s very purse friendly. Both of the eye shadows have small sparkles in them and they do get a bit messy within the compact. The yellow e/s is a bit light maybe even chalky, but can be packed on to get a better color payoff. I used the MAC Soft Ochre pp underneath and it worked. The deep brown can be mimicked when applied lightly to the eye lid, but looks really nice when packed on…the sparkles just standout and give a gorgeous night out look. Make sure and wear a good base with the eye shadows. I wore foundation as a base and it did not last at all. UDPP and MAC paint pots work well with the eye shadows.
2)Fly-by-Blu - the eyeliner is blue with sparkles, but it is not a bright blue…more of a bluish black with just the right hint of blue. I like using blue to make a natural eye look pop a bit.
3)Rave - this one is a bright, purple color and really brings out those purples. I almost bought the Team Violets compact to go with this eyeliner, but the colors of the e/s on me were not great.
I think i’ll go back for some more eyeliners.

The MAC Cremesheen Collection had some nice lip colors. I found 2 lipsticks I would definitely buy…but got carried away with the Suite Array eyeliners. What I like about the lipsticks is how moisturizing they feel -almost like a tea tree kind a feel. However the fact that it is a moisturizing cream product makes me worry about the staying power. I’ll have to test it out.

Believe or not, I went to MAC counter twice after the Cremesheen came out. Want to try the Modesty, but it was out of stock. SA said it will be in permanent line, so I’d better wait instead of buying online.
Hey Qingzi,
If it’s going to be permanent I’d wait as well, especially after having no luck finding it. I prefer to try before I buy and usually skip online shopping, unless I know for sure I have to have it.
