Today for class we had to do Pin Up Girl makeup. You will notice that the makeup looks real white. The reason for it being so white, thick and pasty is, so it shows up on black and white photography, as it did back then. (It is film makeup.) So the contour areas have to be quite obvious. (It won’t look good on this regular camera of mine.) So, to do this look at home there is no need for the extra amount of products used in class. The makeup I am wearing here was done by my partner. I did the Pin Up look on her, but do not have a picture of it.
Either way it was fun taking professional photos and dressing up in wigs etc. I am not a pro-photographer with nice equipment, but I took a few pics with my camera set to black and white. You can see how the makeup pops, thanks to the foundations underneath.

So as you see the contour and highlight areas are quite obvious. This is done on purpose so it shows up on black and white film. Our technology now is more advanced than it was before, so this helps re-create the look as it appeared on film back in the day. Crazy! I know.

Here’s the black and white home taken pics:

Your eyes look fierce! What a cool project.
wow that looks great .. I totally see what you mean about black and white and the lighting
your eyes and lips look soo fricken hot!!! How did you get the eyeliner so perfect?
Marsadie - thanks girl!
PB- hey girl! Well my partner did the makeup on me in class, but let me just say that the eyeliner part takes practice. It really depends on the persons eye shape and practice. Sometimes you get a good eye line and sometimes a not so good one. At least until you master it.
I have my days.
You and your partner make a great team!
