Pressed MAC Solar Bits & Before and After Swatches

So, yesterday I finally caved in and bought MAC Solar Bits in Black Ore and Bronzescape. Let me tell you how hard it was to find Black ore. At the first MAC counter I went to, they were out of Black Ore and had one Bronzescape solar bit left. They then called a couple other MAC counters to see if they had Black Ore in stock. They were all sold out. Finally, one of the counters had two of the Black Ore left and they held one for me. At least they said they would, but when I got there it hadn’t been pulled. So they could not find any of the Black Ore. :( Well as it turns out they finally found one in a different drawer. :) Good thing they checked.

As many have seen the Solar Bits are a bit on the messy side, but pretty! In a way they are a softer type of pigment, so last night I decided to do some Solar Bit pressing. I followed the regular steps for pressing pigments. Sprayed some alcohol in a pan, worked the solar bits into the alcohol, dropped the pan from about an inch high to settle product into the pan and let dry. After a few hours I used a quarter and cloth to press them in. ALL DONE!

As it turns out, they are definitely pressable. There is still a slight fall out when applying the pressed solar Bits, but not as much as in the loose ones. The color looks the same to me…maybe a little bit more vibrant. :) I am just happy I can control the messy aspect of it by doing a little pressing. I placed them in an E.L.F. customizable palette and now they are ready to go.
